Preparing your Garden Power Tools for Spring
With the majority of your garden power tools being in hibernation over the course of Winter, it’s time to get them back up and running in time for Spring!
Check for any broken parts
Firstly, inspect the machine to ensure there are no broken parts in your machine. If there are any broken or damaged parts and you’re unsure how to fix it, contact your local dealer to repair or replace the relevant parts.
Sharpen blades and chains
Check the blades and/or teeth to make sure they’re not blunt from last season. If they are blunt they will need to be sharpened or replaced.
Check air, fuel, oil filters and spark plugs
Inspect all filters and spark plugs for any wear and tear, as there are several filter types, check the manual that was supplied with your machine or contact a dealer if they need to be replaced.
Recharge the batteries
Test and charge your batteries for all of your garden machinery. Before you put them away for the Winter they should have been stored at a charge level of 40-60%.

Change the oil (4-stroke)
Replace the oil in your 4-stroke garden tools to ensure they run smoothly and efficiently. (When changing the oil, check you have disposed of the oil correctly and safely).
Fresh fuel and 2-stroke mix
Before changing the fuel and 2-stroke mix, ensure any old fuel has been flushed out. For 2-stroke machines, mix a fresh batch of fuel and oil ratio of 50:1.

Lubricate and tighten any loose parts
It’s important that all tools and the parts are in good condition and well lubricated. Moving parts including bearings, wheels, hinges and any grease points are essential to be well lubricated to ensure the best performance. In addition to this it’s crucial there are no loose parts within the machine. More information can be found in the instruction manual.
Ensure the machine starts and runs
Start your machine up for a couple of minutes before using it, by doing so it will give the oil and fuel time to circulate through the machine.
